One well known example is the Maestro project which allows users to navigate the 3D world of Mars from a desktop computer based on inputs from eight 360-degree cameras onboard the rover. Being a high-level API based on OpenGL and DirectX, Java 3D allows developers to produce object-oriented graphics applications that are platform-independent.
